Chapter B: To develop pedagogical skills
Chapter B: To develop pedagogical skills
Overview
Title: Chapter B: To develop pedagogical skills
Aim:To develop pedagogical skills of VEs. Pedagogical skills are essential for VEs in order to understand themselves as learners and strengthen their educational abilities to facilitate the workshop.
Â
The Chapter has 3 Units:
Unit 1 – Specifics and process of self-directed learning,
Unit 2 – Specifics of experiential learning,
Unit 3 – Facilitation of learning.
Unit 1 focuses on self-directed learning: its definition and specifics, its process and reflection.
– It introduces tasks for the VEs to prioritise their learning goals using Eisenhower matrix (reference), to create their 5-day self-directed learning plan.
READ
We recommend reading through B.1.3 – B.1.6.
Unit 2 focuses on the specifics and processes of experiential learning:
– the majority of the tasks consist of individual learning and focus on reading theoretical information or watching videos and accomplishing the tasks, for example, for answering the questions;
– one task consists of formulating reflection questions and making a “learning interview” type of reflection with another VE.
Unit 3 focuses on facilitation of learning skills VEs will develop by getting to know the principles of non-formal education, learning about group dynamics, and creating a 1 hour of workshop outline:
– an individual learning task focusing on theoretical information about group dynamics, principles of non-formal learning, and analysis of chosen methods.
VEs continue to work on the workshop proposal one-pager. In this Chapter, VEs will work on the required material, agenda, and date/duration sections of the workshop proposal. Additionally, they will revisit and add more content on the workshop summary section.
VE-Trainer Support activities
The forums in Chapter B are mainly for VE peer-to-peer support. It is optional for VE-Trainers to assist in these forums, but if you find any of the topics interesting you are welcome to contribute in the forums.
